The La Crosse Public Library needs an Information Services
Technology Librarian. This position will be responsible for the identification,
evaluation and implementation of relevant current and emerging technologies; maintenance of the library's
soon-to-be-launched Drupal website; participation in the maintenance of the
all-staff Intranet and wiki; training of staff and patrons on existing and new
technology; and reference assistance at a fairly busy reference desk. We're not
bleeding-edge, but your colleagues are ready to learn, and management will
support new initiatives.

This position reports to the Adult Services Manager, and is
a member of the Reference team. Residence within the city limits of La Crosse
required within three months of starting date. One regular evening shift and a
weekend rotation required. This is a salaried, exempt position. $44k with
generous benefits. All of this in the stunning, natural beauty of
the upper Midwest, along the historic Mississippi River, just a couple hours

Summary of responsibilities

Evaluate and help library staff implement
relevant and emerging technologies for library services and staff productivity

Maintain and improve the library website

Grow, maintain and manage the library's gadget
collection
·
Based on patron input and community need,
develop free public computer/technology courses
·
Design and provide technology training for staff
·
Take the lead in ebook and other digital initiatives
·
Provide reference assistance 8-12 hours a week
·
Work closely with IT staff to communicate issues and needs, both ways
·
Familiarity with social networking as it relates to library outreach
·
Seek out and nurture technology-related outreach opportunities in the community—we want you out of the office, building relationships! (Cave dwellers need not apply.)
·
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
·
ALA-Accredited MLS
·
Outstanding oral, written, and presentation skills
·
Highly developed interpersonal skills
·
Impeccable customer service ethic and the ability to work with a diverse user base
·
Ability to manage projects and work both independently and as part of a team
·
Demonstrated familiarity with relevant library trends
·
Basic reference skill demonstrated by experience or coursework
