Under limited supervision, this position will serve as a 1 of 2 statewide trainers for child care centers implementing physical activity and nutrition best practices and standards as required by the ABC Child Care Program. In addition, this position will be responsible for providing training and technical assistance to child care centers to enhance compliance with nutrition and physical activity standards, with an emphasis on physical activity. Specific duties include: 1. Provide statewide physical activity trainings to child care staff to support classroom implementation of physical activity best practices and standards as required by ABC Child Care Program. 2. Provide direct level intensive technical assistance to ABC Child Care center staff to support compliance with required physical activity standards. 3. Coordinate with early care and education professionals to assure developmentally appropriate strategies are presented in trainings. 4. Collect and maintain detailed, accurate data related to trainings and technical assistance provided.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A master’s degree in public health or early childhood education, with one (1) year experience in developing and implementing or managing initiatives/project for the child care setting specific to physical activity promotion.
Preference will be given to candidates clearly documenting: 1. Experience providing physical activity related technical assistance to child care center staff; 2. Experience working with early care and education partners to promote and/or develop resources to support recommended best practices for early childhood obesity prevention; 3. Experience coordinating and collaborating with physical activity partner agencies and organizations, including participation in multi-disciplinary working/advisory groups; 4. Extensive knowledge of public health principles and practices, including needs assessments, evaluation methods, and focus on system’s-oriented activities.
