Performs manual and clerical duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment and finished products shipped via internal freight fleet or third party LTL carrier. Maintain necessary files and documentation. May perform activities related to load planning of outbound trucks to meet customer delivery requirements and cost parameters. Utilize small hand tools and operates material handling equipment including forklifts, skids, pallet handlers, hand trucks, etc. to stage materials and load trucks. Typical shipping activities include checking goods against shipping documents and authorizations. Pack goods for shipment according to specifications, equipment characteristics, transportation methods and routes. Verify identification and quality of product, prepare bills of lading, post weight and shipping charges, stamp, stencil or attach information and shipping instructions on containers, load shipment onto trucks, and maintain inventory of cartons, tapes, crates, clamps, foam and other packing material. Typical receiving activities include taking receipt of raw materials, components or equipment and unload from trucks primarily using a forklift truck and pallet jacks. Check incoming materials against bills of lading, packing slips, etc., verifying nomenclature, identification and quantity of the materials. Maintaining records of goods received and damaged goods. May be tasked with performing ancillary duties related to Production Expediting coordinating the movement of materials throughout the plant.


Verify and monitors incoming receiving arrangements.

Compares identifying information and counts for all incoming shipments.

Inspects all incoming product condition, routes all packing slips and generates data to report status of receiving activities.

Moves customer product to appropriate storage areas.

Counts inventory to maintain replenishment and reports discrepancies to Purchasing.

Maintains packing list files on all incoming shipments and coordinates with Purchasing on orders/returns from vendors.

Data entry into warehouse management system.

Support and assist customer with problem resolution.

Maintains certification on mobile equipment necessary to perform specific job assignments.

Understand the cause and effect between clerk responsibilities and other related operation positions (i.e. billing, purchasing, etc.)

Assists in training employees how to perform assign tasks.

Monitors job quality by performing frequent quality inspections. Reports issues/problems in a timely manner to supervisor for resolution.

Recommend changes to supervisor to improve procedures

Notify supervisor or coordinator of any safety hazards

Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including, but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out - tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.

Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Must be able to work Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m. with some flexibility to work 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. when business needs dictate.

Strong knowledge and experience using a WMS (warehouse management system) application preferred.

Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues.

Requires very good communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.

Able to apply basic functional computer knowledge in utilizing Microsoft Windows other technical tools in completing assignments.

Basic math skills and sound mathematical reasoning. Must have an organized approach to task completion and excellent attention to detail.

Physical requirements of this position include: ability to stand for extended period, ability to lift and handle cartons up to 60 pounds on an occasional basis and up to 40 pounds on a continuous basis.

Ability to solve problems by analyzing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job.

Must be able to work weekends and overtime as required.

Computer literacy preferred.

Good organizational and communication skills required.

Ability to read and interpret data and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to effectively communicate with and coach people is also required.
