Purpose of position
Assists and motivates students in the Educational Talent Search Program to prepare for and apply to post secondary education.
Conducts individual and group meetings with participants.
Responsible for providing information on life skills, college admission, financial aid opportunities, careers and post secondary education to ETS students and parents at Bowie and Jefferson High Schools and Guillen and Henderson Middle Schools. Assists with workshops relevant to student success. Keeps individual records of student services and eligibility, tracks grades, maintains a database of students records and services. Monitors after school tutoring program. Serves as a chaperon for scheduled field trips.
Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and one to two years experience working with youth or college students in an advisory, administrative or educational capacity. Must possess excellent organizational skills. Must exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills. Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System UTS157.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office to include: Word, Excel, Power Point and Access. Bilingual.
May work around standard office conditions.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
Climbing of stairs.
