The primary role of
GN Engineering, WAN – IT
is viewed as an expert in one or more aspects of Network Engineering.
They undertake complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge. Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous information.
Acts as a resource for direction, training and guidance for the greater Network Engineering team. Provides engineering oversight and direction for enterprise-wide WAN technologies such as Routing, DR and or high availability networks or solutions.
Stays current and up-to-date on the direction of emerging industry standards. Identifies, evaluates, conducts, schedules and leads technical analysis functions to ensure all applicable network infrastructure requirements are met. Coordinates with users to determine requirements.
The daily activities of this position include; responsible for high-level network engineering, planning, design, and optimization. Develops strategies and direction for WAN solutions using current and emerging technologies. Translates business requirements into network or process designs. Plans and recommends network hardware, systems management software and architecture.
In addition to supporting this environment the applicant will have the responsibilities of documenting network reference architecture, new solution architecture, network WAN standards and configuration templates.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Engineering, design and support of the Wide area network solutions.
Provide an escalation point for operational support of network issues.
Provide an escalation point for design reviews of non-standard solutions.
Ensure that network health and maintenance is proactive and sustainable.
Collaborate with internal and external technology teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Perform system maintenance and maintain current documentation.
Proactively researches and keeps up to date with current technologies.
Network Engineering, WAN Design
Engineer and Design Network solutions
Review business requirements and recommend solutions or process improvements that will meet business needs
Continuous development with vendors of current products and technologies
Provide network technology roadmaps for supported product lifecycles
Participate in DR testing of critical solutions
Validate vendor performance ensuring
optimal service availability, capacity and reliability
Ability to translate working knowledge of network infrastructure and apply towards network consulting for internal or external teams or business units
Provides network design drawings as needed
Provide guidance, task direction, and mentoring to other analysts and assist with problem resolution across services and projects.
Work face-to-face with multiple stakeholders in a team effort to bring multiple complex projects to fruition in a highly motivated, fast paced environment.

Document Reference Architecture of existing Network components
Document Solution Architecture of Network solutions
Document Network Engineering standards and configuration templates
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or information systems. Equivalent I/T experience considered in lieu of degree.

+ years Network Engineering and Design experienced in Wide Area Network design and routing protocols BGP, EIGRP, OSPF , Application Load balancing, DNS Load balancing
+ years Network Implementation experience working with
routers, switches, wireless access points, IP Telephony
Considered a Subject Matter Expert in one or more of the following areas: Routing, Layer 2 switching, Firewalls, Remote Access, Cloud Computing, Wireless, IP Telephony
Internet connectivity and protocols (TCP/IP)

Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree, or equivalent work experience
One or more of the following certifications preferred:
CCNA, CCNP, CCDP, CCIE
6+ years of experience in Network Engineering and total of 10 + years of IT experience
Strong Knowledge of LAN/WAN design and general internetworking technologies.
Strong knowledge of F5 LTM/GTM Big IP
Strong written and verbal communication with presentation skills
Excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision (i.e. self-motivated and willing to stretch to meet important deadlines).
Ability to work successfully in a cross-functional team environment.
