Reviews pre-screening information, evaluates patients presenting for admission & admits patients meeting admission criteria: obtains history of medical illness & performs a physical examination on newly admitted patients; performs valuations for adult & geriatric mentally ill patients; diagnoses & treats mental & physical illness using medication, or other treatment modalities.

Maintains physician’s part of patients’ records in compliance with professional, Departmental TJC, Medicare-Medicaid & Quality Assessment/Peer Review requirements: responds to requests to evaluate & treat patients developing medical or psychiatric symptomatology during duty hours, referring acute medical cases as appropriate; attends to each unit at least twice per day to ascertain the need for physician services; provides emergency medical care to patients; determines immediate treatment of injuries, illnesses &/or emotional crisis (e.g., cardiac arrest, neurological problems, ingestion of toxic/illicit substances, drug overdoses); performs life support techniques &/or prescribes emergency medication as deemed necessary; performs/orders diagnostic tests to determine severity/extent of trauma, monitors, evaluates &/or assesses further treatment; provides first aid treatment to injured employees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Certificate to practice medicine issued by State Medical Board, pursuant to Section 4731.14 of Revised Code & certificate of registration issued by State Medical Board, pursuant to Section 4731.281 of Revised Code or limited registration with subsequent application for next available biennial medical state board examination (i.e., Federation Licensing Examination) to test for limited certificate per Section 4731.292 of Revised Code as it applies for foreign medical graduates.

Major Worker Characteristics:

Knowledge of English; anatomy; physiology; medicine; psychology. Skill in administering treatments & medication. Ability to deal with many variables & determine specific course of action; interpret extensive variety of technical material in medical journals; handle sensitive contacts with persons who are ill.

Supplemental Information:

OD is paid at $60.00 per hour.
