This position will be located in the Lincoln Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The selectee will be working directly with veterans in a face-to-face or telephone setting. Functions include but are not limited to: patient assessment and treatment in a Primary Care setting , patient education, disease management, preventive health and management of emergency situations. The position requires excellent customer service skills in working with patients and their significant others as well as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment. Position will also coordinate would care of the Lincoln patients with the assistance of the Omaha based wound care team.
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Designated Drug-Testing Position : Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.
Education: As a PA, you must have (1) A bachelor's degree from a PA training program which is certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA); or (2) Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a bachelor's degree in a health care occupation or a health-related science; or (3) Graduation from a PA training program of at least 12 months duration which is certified by the ARC-PA and a period of progressively responsible health care experience such as an independent duty medical corpsman, licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, medical technologist, or medical technician. The duration of approved academic training and health care experience must total at least 5 years.
EDUCATION NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Certification. As of March 12, 1993, certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) is a requirement for employment. This requirement does not apply to non-certified PAs on VA rolls as of that date.
Registration: The Physician Assistant (PA) must also maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a PA in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The PA must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with the VA.
