Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for a Crashworthiness / Safety Development Engineer at our Farmington Hills, MI location.

In this position the candidate will be responsible for vehicle level and component crashworthiness. This includes digital planning/design, testing, analysis and development of vehicle and occupant safety performance. Strong knowledge of FMVSS regulations is required as well as ability to analyze all types of crash data. The candidate will need good knowledge of restraint components, including seat belts and multiple types of air bags. Have good leadership skills to manage safety team work with multiple internal departments. Other responsibilities include maintaining program development schedules and meeting vehicle mass and cost targets.

Minimum requirements include a BSME degree with a strong background in automotive safety. Knowledge of CAE/Finite Elements is a plus. Must have the ability to interpret crash test data from occupant injury and body structure standpoint; be mechanically inclined and have hands-on ability to analyze post test vehicle teardowns. Candidate must have strong MS Office skills and excellent communication and presentation skills.
