This position is located in The Woodlands, TX.
Manage and support state-of-the-art large, highly available Enterprise Linux/ERP infrastructure, along with a team of system, server, and network professionals delivering outstanding customer service. Responsible for strategic and operational design/implementation/administration of ERP systems on various operating systems supporting Oracle Psoft environment.
System Administrator is concerned with the design, installation, configuration, administration, and system security of enterprise wide systems in a multi-platform environment.
Purpose and Scope
Monitor day-to-day operations of server/SAN environments.
Manages the relationship and contractual agreements with hardware/OS/application service providers, consultants, and vendors.
Manages Linux security integrating Psoft, Microsoft AD and core Linux permissions with Database, application, web and ancillary servers ensuring complete and updated documentation is maintained.
Plans, tests and documents disaster recovery processes, devise contingency plans accordingly.
Plan, coordinate and perform OS patching with ERP teams.
Provides technical assistance as required to ERP teams.
Participate in OTS change control processes.
Participate in backup/recovery operations and processes.
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with System Office internal staff as well as staff at all campuses.
Develops reports based on Key Performance Indications and dashboards
Willing and able to work non-traditional and extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required. Participation in rotation for 24/7 on-call (additional stipend).

Knowledge Skills Abilities
Expert knowledge of PeopleSoft and Unix/Linux System Administration and Operating Systems.
6+ years’ experience managing Linux (95% Oracle Enterprise Linux) systems in an enterprise production 24/7/365 high traffic web environment or related area.
Expert knowledge of TCP/IP networking and protocols, including DNS, SMTP, HTTP, TFTP, SSH, IPSec, Samba, NFS, NTP, FTP, SFTP, TELNET, KERBEROS, SNMP, and SSL.
Strong understanding of best practices for software engineering systems support, secure systems design and scalable fault tolerant web architectures as well as developing technical documentation for supported systems.
Systems programming, performance optimization and network design experience a plus.
Ability to work independently to get the job done with little or no assistance.
Hands- on experience with full site deployments from the planning/ design stages to full implementation.
Working knowledge of Virtualization, SAN, and Blade Server technologies with preference given to EMC, VMware, and HP product lines.
Strong server and networking debugging skills.
Familiarity with Apache, Java, Tomcat, and MySQL administration.
Proficient in a scripting language (Shell scripting, Perl, Python, PHP). Should be able to connect database, manipulate basic data-structures, regular expressions, basic modularity, error handling.
Experience with monitoring systems, virtualization concepts (VMware), configuration management and incident response systems a plus.
Good knowledge of EMC SAN/RAID support, both hardware and software.
Ability to communicate complex technical problems concisely and professionally to technical and non-technical audiences.
Performs hardware requirements analysis.
