Salary placement is determined using the CSN Academic Faculty Schedule (maximum 10 years experience). Based on the total years of prior teaching experience, the maximum step placement is step 7 on the Academic Salary Schedule.

Position Description: This full time tenure-track Journalism Instructor/student paper adviser position begins in August of 2013. The responsibilities for this position include: --Teach 9-12 Credits/Semester of basic Journalism courses --Serve as adviser for CSN's student paper --Provide an excellent learning experience to a diverse student body using effective teaching strategies --Develop syllabi and course materials --Assess student mastery of skills and competencies required by course outcomes --Participate in student advisement and in recruitment activities --Maintain weekly office hours as required by the college --Participate in program/curriculum/assessment development --Participate in department/school meetings and activities --Serve on department and college-wide committees --Participate in appropriate professional development activities --Assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of day, evening and/or weekend classes.

Required Qualifications: --Master's degree in Journalism, Speech, Communication, Speech Communication, Communication Studies, or Rhetoric from a regionally accredited college or university. --Demonstrated proficiency in teaching Journalism and Communication courses at the college level.
