Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the Surgical Services department(s) on a twenty-four hour basis. Plan, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities, including fiscal, material and human resource management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures. Maintains open communication with all staff to promote improvement in performance. Assumes responsibility for the role of administrative supervisor as needed. The position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities.

Minimum Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Oregon . Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or working toward BSN. Working toward obtaining clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certificate. The successful candidate will be required to pass competencies for this position.

Preferred Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in Oregon . Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) or Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) with Alied Masters Degree. Posesses clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certificate.

Minimum Experience

Minimum of one – two (1-2) years experience in a leadership position in Surgical Department coupled with three (3) years of OR nursing experience required. Requires knowledge of Federal and State regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations.

Preferred Experience

3-5 years of management experience in OR setting coordinating the entire perioperative arena.
