About Position: The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the outreach and education activities of the Covered California grant and the YSC programs and organization. They will develop relationships with other nonprofits, businesses, faith and community groups in the San Fernando Valley. They will represent YSC and market the Covered California materials fairs, events, festivals and other gathering in the San Fernando Valley and City of Los Angeles. They are responsible to develop an outreach and education strategy for the organization to reach out to 25,000 individuals in the community about YSC and Covered California. This is a grant funded position, funded through December 2014. This position reports to the Executive Director.

Your Role:
  • Develop relationships and partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, faith and community based groups in the San Fernando Valley to become outreach and education locations
  • Attend Covered CA training in July 2013 and on an ongoing basis as needed
  • Maintain project calendar of outreach and education events for the organization
  • Attend monthly meetings with the FuturoNow Community Health Connectors team
  • Develop and submit monthly reports to staff detailing the process goals and objectives
  • Ensure that YSC stays in compliance with all government policies and procedures related to grant and YSC policies
  • Manager program assistant position and youth interns assigned to outreach and office duties
  • Develop database for community partners, events and festivals
  • Other duties as assigned by the YSC Executive Director
Your Qualifications:
  • At least two years of outreach and management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage your time, as well as plan and prioritize your work
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant programs
  • Organized, punctual and able to meet deadlines
  • Outstanding communication skills, able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with partners
  • Must be comfortable working in a team environment and leading new projects
  • Energetic and able to be proactive in development productive relationships
  • Experience recruiting, managing and motivating youth and adults
  • Individual with flexibility and an entrepreneurial spirit and drive
