This position is for an Operations Management Intern for defense programs in Huntsville, Alabama. Boeing Huntsville defense programs include the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) National team and the Ground based Midcourse Defense Systems (GMD). As a prime contractor Boeing is designing, producing, integrating, testing and sustaining all GMD components. Other defense programs include ground combat vehicles, PAC-3, ABMD.
-Interns are typically paired with senior operations management personnel to perform operations management tasks associated with the fabrication, assembly integration and testing of products. Responsibilities may include; a) facilitate resolution of cross-functional operations issues identified by others to ensure optimized solution. Assist with the development and maintenance of integrated planning of products and processes and associated data gathering. c) Assist with the planning, organization implementation and monitoring of requirements, processes and tools. Support production planning and execution. Assist with the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of risk, issues opportunity management and readiness assessment process and tools. Skills and experience in using statistical process control DMAIC, and supply chain management concepts.
-Interns have the ability to work with higher level employees performing activities within multiple disciplines and support management in the development and execution of business plans, policies and procedures. Participate in acquiring resources for organizational activities, gather data, analyze results and make recommendation for process improvements. Apply operations management analysis skills on defined projects to increase organization efficiency. Support the introduction of new process and resolve production concerns. Utilize problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation skills to develop innovative solutions to manufacturing problems. Gather data, conduct analyses, and develop recommendations for implementation of new systems and processes. Participate in work teams, provides necessary training, and lead problem resolution. Support the implementation and training for new systems.
