The British Embassy is seeking a world class communication professional to head its Strategic Communications operation.
This is an fantastic opportunity for a recognised leader in communications (Director-level equivalent) to add to their track record of success through the design, development and delivery of holistic communication plans that engage key target audiences and influence US opinion of a range of international policy issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Communications: Work with a wide network of colleagues across the US and in London to develop and deliver credible multi-platform strategic communication campaigns in support of the British Government's objectives.
Stakeholder Outreach : Develop productive and valuable relationships with potential external partners that support communication objectives and raise the profile of the British Embassy in the US.
Management: Working closely with the Head of Communication, lead, manage and motivate a ten-person strong communication team in Washington, plus a wider network of colleagues in the UK's Consulate-Generals across the US. Develop the team's professional communication skills and quality control their output.
Successful candidate will:
Be a leader committed to developing your team and adept at delivering through others.
Be able to demonstrate a track record of collaboratively developing creative campaigns and then delivering them through a team on behalf of some demanding customers.
Have an in-depth knowledge of the full range of communication tools and techniques, and the communication environment within the US.
Congressional, government or public policy experience preferred. Some knowledge of international policy issues would also be an advantage.
Under US State Department requirements, the Embassy may only employ, as non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Green Card holders or A visa holders*. The salary range for this position starts at $77,000 annualized. Actual salary will be confirmed upon offer of employment.
