Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal records check using fingerprints, a drug screening test, and physical examination.
Under the direct supervision of the staff Pharmacist or designee, the incumbent will assist in serving the pharmaceutical needs of Health Center patients and departments served by the Douglas County Pharmacy Department. Assist in assembling, purchasing, and controlling medication and supplies.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
In accordance with federal and state regulations, assist pharmacist in the filling and dispensing of prescriptions for the various departments served by the Pharmacy Department.
Assemble and package medication and supplies for distribution to the various departments served by the Pharmacy Department, and deliver prescriptions and supplies to designated areas within the Health Center.
Enter and maintain all relevant information for prescriptions and orders for inpatients and clinics served by the Pharmacy Department, and check patient records to ensure compliance with prescription orders.
Enter and maintain data for patient billing and inventory control.
Conduct inventory and stock medications as required.
Participate in departmental quality improvement activities as assigned.
Perform other clerical duties as assigned by staff Pharmacist or Pharmacy Director.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
High school graduate or GED.
One year* work experience in a position utilizing basic clerical skills. Candidates with previous pharmacy experience preferred.
Knowledge of computers and associated windows-based software (i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel) preferred.
Must be registered with the State of Nebraska as a Pharmacy Technician or must apply to become registered within 30 days of employment and must be registered with the State of Nebraska before the end of the 6 month probation period. Must maintain license throughout the course of employment.

*Educational coursework or training may be substituted for up to six (6) months of the work experience requirements.

Work is generally performed indoors in a clinic environment with standard day-shift hours, however work hours will occasionally include overtime and call-ins as needed. Noise level is usually moderate. Work may be fast paced when dealing with multiple priorities and/or time constraints.
Work requires some physical activity, including extended periods of standing and frequent walking, reaching and bending as well as occasional sitting, climbing stairs, balancing, and kneeling. An incumbent must have the ability to frequently lift and/or carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds and to occasionally lift and carry equipment and other materials weighing up to 50 pounds. An incumbent must possess the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to work with small items as well as operate computers and other equipment used to perform the essential functions of this job.
Required sensory abilities include vision, hearing and touch. Visual abilities, correctable to normal ranges, include close, distance, and color vision as well as the ability to adjust focus. Communication abilities include the ability to talk and hear within normal ranges.
