Utilizes the nursing process to care and/or counsel individuals in the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention of illness and injury. This systematic critical-thinking approach guides data gathering, assessment, nursing judgment, intervention and evaluation of human responses to actual and potential health problems through activities such as health teaching, health counseling and the provision of care supportive and restorative of life and supportive of a peaceful death. Patient needs are identified using the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) Synergy Model. Responsible for delegating, coordinating and managing all aspects of nursing care provided to the patient, their family and our community in a timely and cost-effective manner. Patient care is delivered in collaboration with the patient, their family and all members of the health care team and with the knowledge of a licensed physician, psychologist, podiatrist and/or dentist. Carries out all responsibilities in accordance with the mission, vision, strategic imperatives and standards of UAB Hospital Nursing Services and the UAB Health System and serves as an advocate for same. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric. Minimum Qualifications This classification requires one of the following along with licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Alabama.
1. A graduate of a nursing program of study recognized by the Alabama State Board of Nursing.
OR
2. A Baccalaureate Degree from a regionally accredited university

Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred.

Proficiency with a Microsoft Windows operating environment, including MS Office, required. Basic knowledge and familiarity with touch screen technology required. Some areas may have additional computer hardware or software skill requirements such as Impact, WITT/Xpr or RadNet.

Physical demands include frequent walking and standing; approximately 90% of duties require nurse to be ambulatory. Must be physically able to push, pull and lift patients as well as equipment. Posting Salary Minimum 20.10 Posting Salary Maximum 33.37 Employment Status Part Time Benefit Eligible Shifts Weekends Only Licensure / Certifications Licensure as a registered professional nurse in the state of Alabama required. Some areas may have additional certification/license/registration requirements (i.e. CPR, BCLS, ACLS PALS, Hazmat and/or trauma nurse core course).
