Supervise, coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices; including investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software. Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems including the evaluation of system
utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems. Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working
with communication protocols. Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks. Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP. Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as
designated by the government. Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.


Works closely with customers to understand their hardware and
software environment, requirements, processes, and network infrastructure.

Engineers, integrates, and deploys solutions in a Windows, Unix/
Linux/ Solaris environment. Leads engineering teams with full life cycle implementations of cross-domain solutions. Coordinates the design, deployment and troubleshooting of software on Linux, Unix, and Windows workstations; tape libraries; backup platforms; Sun Solaris, Linux Red Hat, and Mac OS software platforms; HP, Unix and Windows virtualized servers.

Oversees workstation and server administration; patch management; maintenance, upgrades, installations, troubleshooting, and decommissioning.

Workstation –

Coordinates software and maintains process to restore user workstation files; –

Verifies packages and oversee deployment of software for Installation and upgrade of workstations; and –

Oversees execution of security patches and Operating System upgrades.

Server –

Coordinates process to register domain names, database entries and modifications for IP addresses; –

Coordinates software and process for classified and unclassified tape back-ups; –

Directs preventive maintenance; –

Monitor server uptime and downtime; –

Coordinates maintenance of the servers; –

Leads and attends scheduled meetings and training related to facility operations, equipment, and software; –

Directs tickets and ensures work is performed on a timely basis and meets quality standards; –

Coordinates execution of security patches and Operating System upgrades; –

Verifies backups; –

Ensures optimal backup and recovery solutions; and –

Directs Lifecycle management activities.

Ensures that adequate IP address records are maintained.

Ensures smooth operation of classified disaster recovery backup

Coordinates Change Control Board and Architectural Review
Checklist Meetings.

Leads efforts to enhance SOPs and technical documentation.

Must be flexible to work odd hours to accommodate after hours
support (when required) and maintenance windows.


At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school; Accredited schools are those reported to the US Department of Education and maintained within the Secretary of Education’s database.

A minimum of seven (7) years experience with Windows, UNIX (Solaris, Linux) or HP networking, & administration skills with strong
emphasis on security. Must have 5+ years C, C++ or Perl experience.

Preferred professional certification(s): Windows, Linux+, Red Hat
Certified Technician, Sun Certified System Administrator, SUSE Certified Linux Professional, CMII Certification, Any CM Certifications or Training, Project Management and/or Agile Training.

ITIL v3 foundation certification desired.

Must be a US citizen.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Active Secret clearance highly desired.

Tour of duty is between 6am and 8pm, Mon-Fri.
