Performs a variety of skilled and complex clerical functions using a computer and the Laboratory Information System and Hospital Information System.
Greets and takes care of the needs of our internal and external customers. Collects appropriate data to correctly provide the customers with the requested services.
Interviews patients to obtain demographic and financial data.
Creates patient records and/or enter physician orders in the computer.
Collects blood specimens and/or accepts miscellaneous specimens received from internal and external customers.
Verifies information provided on specimen with order requisition assuring sufficient quantity and type.
Centrifuges and distribute blood specimens to appropriate section.
Orders and prepares specimens for reference laboratory pickup.
Receives visitors and telephone calls, refers callers to the appropriate department or staff member. Takes action to resolve problems that may arise in their interaction with patients and physicians.
Deals with confidential information in accordance with hospital policy
Knowledge of automated data entry systems.
Approved phlebotomy certification when appropriate.
Familiarity with clinical tests and terminology.
Guest Relations and Customer Service Skills.
Good hand-eye coordination.
Manual dexterity to manipulate test tubes in and out of racks.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people.
