Job Description Software Development Engineer, Retail Catalog Publishing. responsible for the design and support of Amazon’s back end systems and services that feed the domestic and international retail catalogs. Our prime objective is to ensure that regular updates of product information are correctly processed and that the quality of data meets business requirements. Our secondary objective is to improve the robustness of our systems and to reduce data latency by producing innovative ways of increasing data flow and improving failure recovery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for roadmap projects that support corporate data management and quality improvement initiatives, as well as taking on one business-centric small project each year. Daily work will involve liaising with Amazon business owners and other retail development teams. In addition, the candidate will be expected to analyze and profile existing systems and processes to identify where improvements to the robustness and stability can be made or where manual solutions can be replaced by systemic software systems. This will be achieved by designing, implementing, testing, and deploying enhancements to our current architecture.

The candidate must provide outstanding problem-solving abilities and demonstrate a clear commitment to making Amazon a great place to work. Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field• Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education• 2+ years professional experience in software development• Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design• Computer Science fundamentals in data structures• Computer Science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis• Proficiency in, at least, one modern programming language such as C, C++, Java, or Perl Preferred Qualifications 1+ years SQL/Oracle experience is preferred.1+ years Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) experience is preferred.BS with advanced degree preferred.3+ years experience in software development, including participation in builds and deployments.2+ years developing in the Linux/UNIX environment.2+ years Perl, Java, C++, SQL relational database experience.Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and listening skills.Ability to multi-task and work well in a team.
