Duties: Essential Job Duties: The Instructional Media Center Supervisor position participates in the daily operation of the Instructional Media Center and provides information and assistance to patrons using IMC material. Duties include: maintains library wireless laptop computers and A-V equipment; trains and supervises Library Assistant 1 and student assistants; provides service and instruction in use of media and media equipment; provides information to patrons related to IMC policies and procedures; schedules classes in the IMC instruction areas, provides equipment/A-V support to classes and events scheduled in the library; coordinates with Tech Fee installation and upgrades to library laptop software; coordinates with Tech Fee regular maintenance and repair of library laptops; maintains in-house and loaning equipment; creates inventory records of library A-V equipment and laptop computers and laptop peripherals; evaluates and recommends A-V equipment purchases; works with various departments within the Library Services Department and across campus on equipment, and laptop related matters, including setup, maintenance, supplies and repair, and policies and procedures effecting use of equipment, software and networking; operates DVD damage scanner and repair equipment; initiates orders of A-V replacement equipment and parts; evaluates and recommends in-house repair, outside repair or replacement of equipment; prepares and submits charge-back s to Fiscal Affairs on a regular basis; and works alternate schedules as required during intersession and breaks when library hours are altered. Performs other duties as requested by the Library Director or designee. The filling of this position is contingent upon available funding.
Selection Criteria: Selection Criteria: Minimum Education & Training:
Four years of library-clerical work including two years of advanced library clerical work comparable to the Library Assistant II, and graduation from high school OR two years of advanced library clerical work, and an associate degree or equivalent training with major course work in library science OR a bachelor’s degree.
Skills: Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of library techniques, procedures, and working tools used in accessing, cataloging, circulating,
and maintaining library materials.
Skill in the application of the techniques and procedures used in cataloging.
Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in bibliography preparation and the use of library research
Ability to apply library methods and principles in circulation and providing reader services.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other library personnel and the public.
