Job Description

Role Summary

The Senior Treasury Consultant is responsible for coordinating the integrated delivery of a full range of custody banking and related services for Cigna Investment Management (“CIM”), Corporate Owned Life Insurance (“COLI”) and its support operations. Works withinternal and external investment managers, local country management, custodians, legal, investment accounting and securities operations staff to establish and maintain Cigna domestic and foreign investment portfolios.Monitors custody services levels agreements and coordinates the response when performance levels falls below expectations..

Major Duties

Provide an active calling effort and consultation program with CIM, COLI and their support organizations. In-depth knowledge of CIM’s business portfolios structure, Investment Accounting and Operations’ key financial processes, their management, and a detailed working knowledge of how investment and accounting systems interface with banking custody solutions. Anticipate and respond to investment needs and support new business strategies to generate additional investment income.

Lead project teams, or are subject matter experts, in development of a world-wide custody infrastructure for dozens of Cigna legal entities with portfolio structures employing diverse asset classes and multiple bases of investment accounting for financial reporting.. Creatively analyze, develop, and implement integrated solutionsthat comply with local country regulations. Leverage both bank and Cigna capabilities tomeet both local and global needs for asset pricing, reconciliation, compliance, and foreign exchange services.

Strong knowledge of business process analysis, workflow and systems design. Educate business personnel in the use of bank custody systems and process flows involving treasury, accounting, and CIM systems. Assist in assuring understanding and compliance with Cigna/CIM investment management standards and internal controls.

Work closely with custody service providers, CIM/COLI, treasury, and financial staff to maintain high-quality, straight-through securities clearance processing and comprehensive financial reporting and is the lead person responsible to resolve bank service issues.

Represent Cigna at various professional meetings and seminars. Maintain an active dialog and contact with other treasury and investment professionals and custody banking experts to stay current with the latest trends in investment industry technology solutions and best practices.

Cigna is a global business with multiple operating sites in the US and abroad. Business travel may be required. Time flexibility required to support global operational needs.

Maintains key relationships with over a dozen US and international business clients

Manages or supports multiple projects ranging in size from several weeks to multi-year programs. Projects investment income valueed in excess of $1 million. . Requirements

Qualifications

BA degree in a financial discipline. Advanced degree in a financial discipline, CTP or CPA, a plus.

5 - 7+ years of financial experience

Working knowledge of investments andportfolio structures, foreign custody regulations, and safekeeping/clearing practices obtained through past experience working in a large global insurance, bank, or investment management company.

Basic knowledge of insurance investment regulations, investment accounting principles, foreign exchange, and ancillary custody services, e.g. compliance monitoring, performance measurement, securities lending, transition services, etc.

Proven customer-focused, consulting and project management skills. Basic understanding of Six Sigma principles.

Organizational agility with demonstrated interpersonal skills and knowledge about how global organizations get things done across business areas. Can work with management and staff at different levels through both formal and informal channels.

High energy level, proactive approach and sense of urgency.

Solid project management skills. Able to manage personal time as well as help others prioritize.

Strong decision-making abilities and be able to deal with ambiguity..
