Tetra Tech EM Inc., a subsidiary of Tetra Tech, is
currently seeking a Regulatory Specialist to provide
support for our Kansas City, Missouri office.
We are seeing a regulatory specialist whose primary
duties will include RCRA compliance inspections, as well
as multiple environmental media (multimedia) and UST
evaluations, at commercial and government facilities.
Additional duties may include site investigations and
assessments, multimedia sampling, document research,
report preparation, and data management.
The successful candidate will have 5 to 10 years of RCRA
experience, and a strong working knowledge of federal
hazardous waste regulations (40 CFR 260 through 280) is
required. RCRA experience must focus on hazardous waste
generator and treatment, storage, and disposal facility
requirements. Preference will be given to applicants who
have managed hazardous waste compliance for a large
facility or who have conducted hazardous waste
compliance inspections or audits for state or federal
regulatory agencies. Previous experience with site
investigations and assessments, and Phase I ESA (ASTM)
and Phase II site characterization is also required.
Multimedia regulatory compliance experience is highly
desirable, and should include experience in air,
stormwater, UST, and other regulatory programs.
Candidates must have experience writing technical papers
or reports, interviewing representatives of clients and
regulated entities, and reviewing documents. Strong
analytical and organizational skills and excellent
communication skills (both written and verbal) are
required. Must be able to manage time well and work on
tasks as part of a larger project team. Must be highly
motivated and client-focused, must exhibit attention to
detail and a focus on quality, and must work well in a
team environment. Effective multi-tasking and
self-prioritization abilities are necessary. Candidates
should be proficient with MS Office applications (Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Access) as well as Adobe Acrobat.
The work environment will require the ability to walk
around project sites (sometimes over uneven terrain),
and candidates must be physically able to lift and carry
equipment such as maps, GPS units, sampling and field
screening equipment, or a camera during field work.
Position requires the employee to drive regularly.
Project work may occur nationwide, but will be primarily
focused in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa. This
position may require up to one week per month of travel,
typically by motor vehicle and typically alone. B.S. in
environmental science, chemistry, geology, chemical or
environmental engineering, or related field is required.
