Description:
Job Purpose: Install, connect, test, maintain and repair electrical systems at the journeyman skill level. Includes primary (20 KV) and secondary voltage interior and exterior systems. May be required to coordinate work of contractor personnel as well as provide work direction regarding electrical systems to maintenance personnel and others. When working in multi-craft environment may be directed to assist others in non-electrically related duties.

Major Responsibilities:
Inspect existing electrical systems; prepare estimates, plan, layout and document electrical work projects.
Coordinate activities with customers and contractors.
Obtain necessary materials and supplies; may include direct purchase from vendors if authorized.
Perform installation, maintenance and repair of primary and secondary interior and exterior systems (may include outside lighting systems).
Observe campus and industry safety procedures.
Perform non-electrical duties as directed within multi-craft work environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED certificate
Work Experience: Four to five years job related experience.
Certifications: Valid Georgia Driver's License
Skills: This job requires working knowledge of electrical systems, National Electrical Code, general construction processes and ability to read prints and drawings. Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Education: Technical Diploma, Associates Degree or 2 years college course work in electrical field. Additional Information: The work environment involves exposure to potentially hazardous materials and situations requiring extensive safety precautions. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions, hazardous materials, extreme heat, fumes, dust, hot surfaces, noise, machinery, poor lighting and live electrical components and/or wiring. Typically requires lifting of objects up to 75 pounds and standing for extended periods. Requires working from ladders, scaffolding, lifts and bucket trucks to heights necessary to reach components and systems. Requires accessing and working in confined spaces (manholes, vaults, pits, etc.). May require wearing a full-face respirator in accordance with GT policies and procedures.

This position will require some evening and weekend work for on-call and period seasonal responsibilities.

Impact & Influence: This position will interact on a consistent basis with: co-workers, building contact personnel, D&C staff, vendors, contractors and environmental health and safety personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel: maintenance personnel.
