This job is responsible for providing
basic practical nursing and health services to patients relative to their occupations and working environments, under the direction of a provider (e.g. physician, registered nurse) and in accordance with LPN standards of practice. Includes activities relating to programs of immunization, health screening and health counseling. All work is done independently off-campus for approved clients of the facility.
Greets and prepares patients for provider immunizations, blood draws and other off-site services in a friendly and courteous manner; monitors patient flow and ensures that the proper patient sign-in procedures are followed and obtains appropriate consents.
Obtains and records vital signs and other necessary information (e.g. height, weight, drug allergies, current medications, etc); documents all interactions and information in the patient’s medical record; may fill out incident forms.
Performs procedures as outlined on company assignment sheets; draws blood; performs cholesterol screens, audiograms, EKGs and vision tests; performs body fat testing.
Under direction of a provider, administers approved injections or immunizations via subcutaneous, intramuscular or intradermal routes and informs patients of the results of any on-site testing; obtains self-addressed envelopes from patients so lab results can be sent to their homes.
Assists with diagnostic tests and routine clinical procedures appropriate to the level of training and established procedures.
Provides educational materials and instruction as appropriate; ensures that follow-up and referral information are understood by the patient.
Prepares, cleans and maintains proper equipment calibrations; disposes of contaminated items in accordance with established guidelines.
Monitors supply levels relating to each onsite assignment; anticipates the need for medications, supplies and equipment and plans accordingly; advises supervisor of low supply levels.
May be required to collect cash payments from clients; documents amounts owing and collected, and turns in to appropriate party in accordance with established procedures.
Graduate of an accredited LPN program with appropriate licensure.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and tools/equipment relating to practical nursing.
Current certification as a Registered LPN in the work state.
Current BLS certification.
Current driver’s license valid in the work state or other evidence of equivalent mobility.
