IS User Support Specialist is responsible for supporting Agency corporate and field users, desktop and laptop computers, primary applications, and associated technology and office automation systems. General responsibilities include the installation, training, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of all client computer systems, applications, communication devices, and peripherals (printers, fax machines, LCD projectors, etc.) within established standards, guidelines, and service level agreements. Provides technical support for workstations, peripheral devices, and desktop applications including software/hardware installations and virus and security updates in a manner that meets or exceeds established Service Level Agreements. Responsible for imaging PCs, laptop and tablet notebook devices using industry standard tools. Performs the installation, training, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of desktop and laptop hardware, software, and peripherals.
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, plus 5 years of related experience. Certification in CCNA, MSCA and/or MCSE preferred. A minimum of five to seven years of diverse desktop support experience in a windows network environments. At least 4 years of progressively responsible user support experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing and upgrading computer systems, printers, and peripheral equipment located in both corporate onsite and remote field user locations. Must have advanced and proven hardware experience and skills with all major Dell client platforms, including Latitude, OptiPlex, and Inspiron. Technically proficient in supporting customers in a multiple OS environment. Advanced knowledge and user support of common Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Office suites (2003/2007), Visio, Project, Internet Explorer, SharePoint and Forefront applications. General knowledge and experience with Symantec Ghost and Backup Exec client applications is required. Experience in the configuration and usage of Configuresoft’s ECM application highly desired. Expert knowledge in the setup, configuration and usage of Microsoft operating systems, including Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 as well as Windows Server 2003 and 2008. Knowledge of basic network protocols. Solid working knowledge of Windows Active Directory. Consistently maintains knowledge of current and new, emerging technologies. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws, including HIPAA. Position involves sitting for extended periods of time. Position involves occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings. Position requires the ability to lift and handle up to 65 pounds of materials, bend, stoop and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of materials or equipment on shelving. Position requires rotational on-call availability of one week per month.
