The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is the third largest clinical department in the School of Medicine. In addition to providing all imaging services for patients of the UCSF Medical Center, the Department also supports researchers across the campus with imaging technology, as well as conducting research on its own. Personnel comprise approximately 200+ campus employees and 150 faculty, 40% of whom are PhD researchers; and residents and clinical fellows total more than 80. In addition there are approximately 80 students and post docs on clinical rotations and/or research. Services are provided at multiple sites including Parnassus Campus, Moffitt-Long, Mount Zion, SFGH, the VA Medical Center, Laurel Heights, China Basin and Mission Bay (Byers Hall).

The incumbent is responsible for providing end user support for research, clinical, and administrative users at Parnassus, Mt. Zion, China basin, and Byers Hall (Mission Bay). The population supported comprises of over 150 faculty members engaged in clinical and research activities, their academic and non-academic staff, administrative employees, research administrators and financial analysts. In addition to end user support; multiple OS support; configuration, maintenance and support of Linux, Solaris, Macintosh and Windows systems; hardware and software installation; support of peripherals including printers, multi function devices, document scanners etc; will also perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Three or more years experience with OS setup, administration, and maintenance across multiple platforms; vendor interaction and negotiating pricing; two or more years experience with tools for diagnostic and remote management on multiple platforms, Windows Active Directory, Windows server administration, full disk encryption, Perl/shell scripting; excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to follow through. Good communication skills and team player; Sun Solaris, Redhat Enterprise Linux, Mac OS X and Windows operating systems troubleshooting and administration; ability to expertly navigate the Linux, Windows, Mac OS X environments; comfortable working from the command line; ability to troubleshoot standard and specialized software and hardware issues; MS Office Suite, Adobe, Symantec Anti Virus; system administration tools for diagnostic and remote management tools (ARD, Remote Assistance, VNC), Active Directory, LDAP, Windows server administration, Kerberos, full disk encryption packages such as CheckPoint FDE and PGP, Understanding of file sharing via NFS, AFP and SMB/CIFS. Scripting experience (Perl, shell, etc.); knowledge of system imaging techniques, testing imaging suites and building reliable system images, OS imaging software (DeployStudio, WDS); Physical Demands: requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs, reaching up to shoulder height; pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting, standing, walking, waist twisting, kneeling, crawling; carrying/lifting up to 60 pounds; gripping/grasping, fine/gross finger manipulation; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; differentiate color. Preferred Qualifications Two or more years experience providing end user support for Radiology Information Systems; ability to research required software, download and compile the software on multiple platforms and perform functionality testing; ability to perform custom hardware installations and test for compatibility with existing infrastructure and university standards, knowledge of scientific software such as MATLAB and IDL, OSIRIX, database applications such as SQL, FileMaker; broad understanding of clinical applications such as Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Voice recognition system (Radwhere, PowerScribe), Radiology Information Systems (IDXRad); knowledge of HL7 standards and DICOM protocols, RIS interface with clinical systems such as PACS, familiarity with TCP/IP networks, FTP, network topology and switch configuration.
