Join our team as we continue to expand our business and build the next generation of packet networking. The Senior Manager will Manage SVT/PV activities at Ciena for the Packet networking group. Responsibilities will include hands on technical management as well as people management, which include day to day management of resources, tracking and reporting progress of the teams in various cross-functional meetings, co-coordinating activities between North American and India teams. Review product requirements, Architecture and designs and provide feedback to development teams. Team up with development organizations in order to ensure customer quality in the Packet Networking product.
Note: Requires strong knowledge of Networking technologies, L2, L3 and MPLS.
Position may be located: Spokane, WA, San Jose, CA or Ottawa, ON
Staff and manage the activities of the Product Validation group for Packet Networking product lines Ensure team is able to execute responsibilities effectively and meet tight deadlines. Develop and Improve existing processes and ensure teams follow established test and validation processes. Career development of group members. Participate in Cross-functional meetings to represent PV of Packet Networking products. Coordinate the sharing of responsibilities between North American and Indian PV teams. Develop and Execute test plans based on System Requirements and high level development documents. Consult with hardware and software engineering staff to identify and document functional interfaces and requirements to perform operational and performance testing at the module and overall system levels. Confer with hardware and software engineering personnel to resolve problems related to specifications and associated test plans/procedures. Investigate product defects and highlight critical issues that can have potential customer impact.
BSCS or BSEE with minimum 10 years of progressively responsible Product TEST/QA management and validation experience in networking L2/L3, MPLS, IPV4, IPV6.. Strong organizational skills and ability to delegate effectively across teams or complex projects. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel projects with highly variable scopes. Demonstrated leadership and communications skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate/collaborate with remote QA and development teams. Advanced knowledge of product validation methodologies Experience in data networking including understanding of IP, Ethernet and other data networking protocols; specifically IEEE 802.1 (MAC, VLAN, LACP), MPLS, LDP, IPv4/IPv6, SNMP, G.8032 MPLS routing protocols OSPF, ISIS, PGP Experience with test automation systems would be a plus ( languages such as C/C++, Perl, Python and/or Ruby) Experience with interfacing with customer test labs.
Familiarity with carrier network environments Prior experience in Product Development Life Cycle involving both hardware and software. Team player and leader to enable wholesome participation and growth within the team. Be a hands-on technical manager and lead via example. Excellent communication skills.
