Perform hands-on functions and coordination of activities in the preparation and application of test equipment on vehicles for test. Also supports the vehicles and vehicle sub-system during developmental testing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assemble or teardown hardware on chassis or test stands and performs other general mechanical duties.
Work closely with and mentor team members.
Drive test vehicles: perform specified tests, gather data, evaluate performance, evaluate safety and road ability, and report findings.
Draw basic sketches as related to redesigning hardware.
Build and fabricate test fixtures and install delicate test instrumentation.
Service and repair equipment and vehicles as required.
Performance of system and component tests to assure proper operation.
Conception and fabrication of test fixtures, including establishing appropriate instrumentation and test sequence and procedures.
Performance of tests to determine capabilities of vehicles/systems and conformance to specifications and/or regulations.
Recording and reporting of test data.
Must possess good written and oral communications skills.
Ability to investigate and troubleshoot problems and participate in formulation of a corrective action.
Perform field service work as required with frequent travel and durations of 2- 4 weeks.
- Associate's degree in auto/truck mechanics or equivalent experience
- 5-plus years related experience in truck/auto mechanics with emphasis on electronics, print reading, and welding
- Ability to attain a commercial driver’s license to accomplish assigned projects
