The Component Engineer will:
- Oversee qualifications of interconnect components (connectors, cables and assemblies and standard hardware)
- Act as the technical representative to the commodity teams and Engineering teams
- Evaluate quality and reliability performance data
- Perform technology evaluations and run reliability experiments
- Participate in Defect Reduction Teams, Supplier audits
- Drive and assess next generation interconnect technologies to enable new design concepts
- Help define part number qualification processes and criteria. Process Part Number Requests, component change management (PCN/MCN).
The ideal candidate will:
- Be experienced in interconnect and cable quality requirements, reliability test methodologies and technology roadmaps
- Have a demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams
- Have good technical knowledge on mechanical components and CM assembly processes
- Possess good communication and influencing skills as well as Project/Program management abilities
- Be capable of analyzing undefined situations, defining the issues and developing long and short term solutions
- Act independently for decisions that impact revenue, customers, GSM, other Cisco departments and suppliers
Basic Qualifications:
- BS ME
- 10 years of interconnect engineering or cable assembly engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS ME
- Experienced in interconnect and cable design and manufacturing
- Solid knowledge of Failure Analysis and Root Cause Analysis
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams
- Good technical knowledge on mechanical components and CM assembly processes
- Good communication and influencing skills
- Project/Program management skills
- Capable of analyzing undefined situations, defining the issues and developing long and short term solutions
- Strong team player
