The Financial Writer will be responsible for the following:
Under the direction of the senior marketing manager, formulate, write and edit a variety of articles and marketing pieces on a range of investment and financial planning topics
Create a broad array of materials including brochures, thought pieces, white papers, presentations, e-mail communications, letters, investment commentaries, website content, webinars, video/audio scripts, talking points, fact sheets and position papers
Cultivate in-depth expertise of the firm's philosophy and process, investment counselor needs and industry trends to create effective marketing materials
Gather relevant information, conduct interviews with thought leaders, perform necessary independent research, and act as the department's primary writer and presentation developer
Take on multiple assignments of varying scope and impact simultaneously
Manage pieces through a vigorous and important internal editorial, content and compliance review
Oversee content updates of existing materials, including scheduling, routing, editing, proofing and maintaining appropriate inventory levels
Gauge effectiveness and timeliness of marketing materials and make recommendations for improvement
Maintain strong relationships and provide marketing support to internal business partners
Assist with the production of videos and webinars, including photography and editing
Liaison with other writers and marketing specialists throughout the firm to gather ideas, materials and best practices
Explore new applications for networking and messaging
Take part in weekly communications team strategic meetings
Adapt written materials from others divisions of the firm for our target audiences
Take on other non-writing-related marketing assignments as needed Hiring Criteria:
Five or more years of professional writing and presentation development experience, ideally as a financial journalist or financial services professional. Communications professionals with strong writing and presentation development backgrounds will also be considered.
Proven experience writing about the equity and fixed-income markets, financial planning and general economic topics
A portfolio of marketing and editorial content that exemplifies superb writing skills and an ability to develop creative solutions
Strong knowledge and experience with print, web, email and multimedia marketing
Excellent project management and organizational abilities
Understanding of financial markets, mutual funds and the financial services industry
Experience marketing financial services, especially to a high net worth audience preferred
Self-starter who can work independently with little or minimal supervision
Able to manage multiple projects at one time
Knowledge of office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Undergraduate degree and advanced degree strongly preferred
