DESCRIPTION

Last year, more than 26,000 people made a difference in the lives of others volunteering their time and talent with the North Texas Food Bank. Our volunteers save the food bank millions of dollars* every year in staffing costs, which we are then able to channel back into feeding the community. The Volunteer Coordinator is a frontline ambassador for the organization, developing, coordinating, and implementing a volunteer program that effectively utilizes community volunteers to support and expand the work of the North Texas Food Bank. An enthusiastic self-starter who is able to work flexible schedules position performing and participating in complex and administrative-related functions to ensure assigned department operations flow smoothly. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, retention, training, recognition, and allocation of volunteers so excellent people skills is a must.

DUTIES

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains policies and procedures relating to the NTFB Volunteer Experience. Develops and maintains a Plan of Action for the NTFB Volunteer Experience, including short and long-range goals and objectives.Provides presentations and display materials about volunteer opportunities to interested organizations.
Recruits and schedules volunteers to assist with special events and fundraising activities. Conducts orientation and training for volunteers including sharing the Food bank's history and mission, as well as current and upcoming campaigns, programs and special events to encourage participation and awareness.
Recognizes daily the efforts of volunteers through verbal praise, thank you letters and other forms of praise through appropriate means.
Maintains consistent communication with volunteers to inform them of Food Bank activities and encourage their participation. Maintains portfolio of special volunteer contacts to build relationships on behalf of the Food Bank.
Manages the tracking of volunteer data and distributes monthly reports to the Executive Team.
Contributes to the continued development of best practices, streamlined processes, and automation as it affects volunteering.
Works cooperatively with other staff in planning and implementing food drives or other community events with relation to volunteer participation.
Addresses volunteer concerns and relays concerns to appropriate staff if unable to personally resolve issue. Manages special canned food drives and other special projects. Proactively and positively collaborates with other marketing department staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years or more working with and recruiting volunteers. Ability to work with and manage diverse groups of people of all ages, backgrounds, and interests. Understanding and demonstration of excellent customer service skills. Ability to develop and conduct training for diverse groups and individuals. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Professional demeanor Demonstration of commitment and flexibility at all times in order to ensure high quality service. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
