The Privacy Program at HSBC is a key component of strong risk management - building trust with customers, employees, shareholders, and regulators – while driving loyalty and economics. The Privacy Analyst is a key member of the Privacy Office and is engaged in the implementation of design and maintenance of the privacy program.

The Privacy Analyst supports specific businesses and functions at HSBC - including Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Private Banking, Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets, and HR.

The individual will provide consultative support on new product development, provide strategy around the collection, use, storage and disposal of customer/employee information, and will be a key educational leader for privacy strategy with responsibility for the development and execution of training and collateral materials.

Major Accountabilities

·

Drive key privacy initiatives - including privacy risk assessments

·

Build global privacy requirements (e.g. laws, regulations) into existing practices

·

Manage Key Privacy Indicators across geographies and lines of business

·

Act as single point of contact and SME for privacy and operational risk/controls

·

Govern privacy incident management processes, notification, and customer experience

·

Remains at the forefront of key trends, latest laws and regulations

Impact on the Business

·

Participate in the development and execution of the privacy strategy

·

Support the Chief Privacy Officer with the duties and obligations of the Privacy Office

·

Ensure all privacy requirements (e.g. laws, regulations) are considered from a global perspective

·

Monitor and report on performance of privacy activities in the various geographic areas and/or lines of business (LoBs)

·

Provide oversight of privacy risk assessments across the organization

·

Provide direction and suggestions to enhance or modify privacy controls

·

Participate in setting the direction of privacy incident management processes and triggers

·

Participate in s

etting the direction on third party and internal data sharing agreements

·

Follow key trends and latest laws and regulations, in consultation with legal counsel

Customers / Stakeholders

·

Develop privacy policies in cooperation with the Chief Privacy Officer

·

Liaise with business lines regarding privacy breaches relative to scope, status, notification and remediation requirements

·

Execute and/or evaluate third party privacy risk assessments and validate required remediation efforts

Leadership & Teamwork

·

Participate in privacy training and awareness content development and delivery

·

Monitor and respond to employee/vendor questions and issues as necessary

Operational Effectiveness & Control

·

Operationalize global privacy compliance standards

·

Develop and create periodic risk metrics specific to privacy

·

Review and, as necessary, update customer and consumer privacy notices

·

Monitor adherence to customer preferences and consent forms

·

Centrally track and analyze (e.g., trending, etc.) privacy breaches and personal data exposures

Management of Risk

·

Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues

Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand

Observation of Internal Controls

·

Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

Qualifications

·

Five years’ experience in the various privacy disciplines (e.g. policy, compliance, incident response, information security, training and awareness, etc.)

·

Undergraduate degree in computer science, business administration or related field or equivalent required

·

Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification desired

·

Knowledge of privacy laws and regulations

·

Legal or operational risk background in Financial Services preferred

·

Ability to collaborate and influence internal executive management and external stakeholders

·

Proven track record in driving implementation of projects across a multi-functional team

·

Demonstrated strategic thinking with a proven ability to drive results

·

Ability to develop methodologies

·

Interest in being a Privacy SME and remaining current on emerging trends and practices

·

Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple work streams
