SUMMARY

Assists Discipline Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Engineering Manager with all aspects of the project engineering from proposal to final report by performing any of the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Other duties may be assigned.

Support engineers in research and analyzing of data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.

Review project drawings, standards and specifications for completeness and accuracy.

Assist engineer with major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.

Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.

Ensure that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.

Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost reports, forecasts, schedules, account codes, budgets and change orders.

Coordinate quantity estimates by obtaining and analyzing data on unit labor costs and unit material costs.

Update estimates, schedules, reports, drawings and documents based on revisions and changes to the project.

Assist with preparation of final project reports including obtaining historical data and information.

Conduct quality checks of databases, documents and reports, to verify accuracy of data, information, and calculations.

Assist in preparing, maintaining and filing of departmental policies, procedures, and manuals.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience:
Sophomore level or higher with degree declared in Engineering, Engineering Management or Project Management

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, clients or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Some knowledge of trigonometry and calculus preferred.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word, word processing software and MS Excel spreadsheet software. Some exposure to computer aided drafting and engineering software preferred.

ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel: and talk of hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
