The Creative Design Engineer III (CDE III) will create new and innovative packaging design concepts for a variety of clients. The CDE III develops design solutions that solve the packaging challenges facing consumer product retailers and manufacturers.
Under general direction, CDE III provides technical packaging sales and design support to the Unisource Global Services team. Typical pre-sales activities include gaining understanding of customer's business and analysis of customer's packaging product needs. The CDE III will prepare and present technical proposals of how Unisource Global Services solutions can meet those needs and be integrated and implemented with the customer's systems and equipment to assure complete plan is feasible within cost, time and environment constraints. Provides technical leadership and trains less experienced engineers.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop new product concepts to support new product launches, line extensions, and existing products and provide expertise to line trials and validations for clients
Responsible for all required specifications, documentation and package testing to support product release.
Manage and maintain all creative project information (i.e. revision level, changes, product line, project design costs, etc.) with the company's project management tool to ensure accurate project progress reporting
Work with automated equipment, and packaging manufacturers to ensure the creation of designs that do not exceed manufacturing limitations
Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Create and or review/approve advanced specification drawings and blueprints for manufacturing
Stay current with software updates, industry standards and technology developments (continuing education, trade shows, conferences, etc.)
Provides technical sales support to assure successful customer integration and implementation of established organization products.
Supports unit sales plan through pre-sales and/or post-sales technical consulting activities. Responsible for gaining an understanding of customer's business and determining customer's system and product needs.
Prepares and presents technical proposals of how UWW's products can meet those needs and be integrated and implemented with the customer's systems and equipment.
Prepares and presents customer systems/equipment needs plan to organization teams to assure complete plan is feasible within cost, time and environment constraints.
Conducts post-sale activities which include gathering data on customer and participating in keeping customer informed on how products can meet changing business needs.

Required Experience
Minimum of 7 plus years experience in Packaging Design and Development
Expert level experience using 2D and 3D software (Pro-E, SolidWorks, etc)
Experience working with rigid and/or flexible packaging, including rigid plastics, flexible films, resins, paperboard, corrugate, and/or packaging equipment
BS in Engineering, Packaging Science or a similar discipline. Advanced degree is a plus
