Provides advanced technical and/or business consultative services during the pre-sales and post-sales cycle. Provides technical or business analytical leadership for specific product groups or business objectives in order to engage the customer or implement and maintain an engagement. Delivers strong presentations for general education. Displays strong listening skills for solution construction to help EMC customers and shows fair competence in competitive knowledge. Takes ownership of high-level technical design convergence with the customer and other EMC teams, and moves to involve other EMC organizations as needed. Assists with SOW writing based on the customer requirements. This role requires extensive EMC knowledge. Promotions or hires into this role require Senior Management review and approval.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for achieving the EMC Bar of Excellence as the highest level of Customer Satisfaction for every customer. EMC Proven Professional Certification desired.
Develops strategies, policies and best practices through participation in team meetings and other direct contributions. Develops and cultivates strong customer relationships ensuring a ''''Customers for Life'''' relationship. Effectively communicates with Operations Manager/VP of Infrastructure at the customers. Works with customers internal change management systems and architectural standards committees.
Supports Project Managers and Program Managers in the design and development of the technical content defined in the Statement of Work. Designs the EMC solution. Prepares technical architectural and implementation design documents and works with the Project Manager to develop the Implementation plan. Works closely with the Project Manager to define project deliverables and schedules. Helps to identify and leverage EMC and Partner Resources in order to satisfy the technical needs and objectives of the implementation. Displays good leadership attributes and if necessary can lead a project team effectively to bring the project to close within the customers parameters. Understands and implements a vision for the effort and the organization. Establishes good working relations and earns trust from other team members and the customer. Drives consensus and knows when to ask for external intervention or arbitration.
Adheres to proper Escalation and Change Control procedures. Prepares, maintains and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures.
Stays current on technical specifications for hardware/software requirements of EMC and industry products through professional associations, trade journals, networking, and associated training and seminars. Actively works to educate others on potential problems and resolutions. Responsible for sharing information and best practices with others. May be required to support and instruct less experienced co-workers, through classroom training sessions or on-the-job mentoring. Provides technical leadership during the implementation of an engagement generally on medium-to-large scale projects. Is considered at minimum an Area resource but generally provides Divisional support. Participates in the installation, customization, and integration of an EMC solution. Maintains awareness of existing or potential customer software/hardware situations. Proactively alerts Project Manager and sales team of potential problems based upon strong working knowledge of software/hardware compatibility within the customer''s environment. Understands technical resource management, and is comfortable developing a structured execution environment.
