Project Background and objective:
Development data platform (DDP) is one of the Bank’s major suite of statistical products, which encompass all aspects of the Development Economics Data Group’s (DECDG) statistical processes: data and metadata collection, validation, processing, storage, sharing and dissemination. DDP supports macro (DDP: Timeseries) socio-economic data. DDP serves as a central repository for time series data and provides a secure means for Bank users to connect to a large number (more than 65) of multi-dimensional datasets, which includes some of the major macro-economic datasets.
The external version of DDP is the World Databank and has limited features in comparison to the internal version. According to latest web statistics, since the launch, there have been about 12.5 million data reports (tables) that were created and viewed. Recently the user interface layer, which was in Java, was redesigned using MS DotNet technology.
The purpose of this project is to maintain and further enhance both these (DDP and DataBank) systems. Enhancements include support for sub-national and high frequency data, data visualization and integration with the new metadata system.
Additional enhancements include creation of data portals using the data widgets and the World Bank API. Enhancements and bug fixes to the existing business layer will also be part of this project.
The objective is to seek one .Net Developer specifically ASP.Net with knowledge of Microsoft SQL and Analysis Server, and HTML5.This resource will work from onsite and will be managed by a DECDG project manager at HQ. This position needs to be filled as soon as possible in the next one week.
Position Requirements/Technical Skills (CCC/Vendor):
MUST HAVE AT LEAST 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE
Experienced in Microsoft Technology (DotNET especially ASP.net, SQLServer 2005/2008, SQLServer OLAP Services, Office 2007).
Good experience in rapid systems development and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Should have experience working with jquery modules.
Good knowledge of time series data manipulation, array processing, external facing website design including session management, dissemination of huge data over web, multilingual sites
Experience working with HTML5 and third party tools like Dev Express, High Charts and Spread Gear Control
