Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator of Special Programs for the Office of Diversity Programs assists the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity Programs in the overall administration of special programs, including the Great Lakes Bay Regional Youth Leadership Institute. Duties also include assisting the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity Programs in preparing reports, serving on ad hoc committees and task forces as assigned, participating in the strategic planning process, and engaging in other activities as assigned to facilitate the Office in meeting its goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate the planning of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Youth Leadership Institute Initiative
Participating in the Office strategic planning process including collaboration with University faculty, student, and staff in the program.
Coordinate and attend all planning meetings both external and internal meetings
Plan and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the program
Assist with developing a budget for the initiative
Troubleshoot issues and problems concerning the Great Lakes Bay Regional Youth Leadership Institute Initiative
Act as a liaison between SVSU and the partnering school districts
Support and implement activities as directed by the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity Programs
Develop and Prepare documentation & reports to meet guidelines for the Great Lakes Bay Regional Youth Leadership Institute.
Responsible for record retention compliance
Responsibility for seeking additional grant funding to support the Great Lakes Regional Youth Leadership Institute
Other duties as described by the Special Assistant to the President for Diversity Programs

Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Baccalaureate Degree required from an accredited college or university
Experience working with students in an academic institution
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Proficiency in word processing, Excel, and basic social statistics
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations with a diverse population
High level of initiative, planning and organizational skills
Collegial and collaborative work style
Demonstrated leadership abilities including taking initiative and providing follow through and responsiveness
