Duties: Responsible for the management of residence halls at Benedictine University including placement of residents, planning and coordinating programs, supervising resident assistants, encouraging student engagement in campus life, encouraging academic success in the residence halls, making ‘duty’ schedules for resident assistants and coordinating the selection and training of resident assistants. The position works closely with admissions, financial aid, physical plant, student affairs, student accounts and campus safety among other University offices. Other responsibilities will include: working closely with admissions, financial aid, and other offices to assist in the recruitment of residents to campus living by serving as the main contact for residence life, providing presentations and tours as necessary, maintaining housing records to complete resident files and to assign rooms to residents based on preference, status, and other factors; retaining residential students by working with resident assistants to develop community within the residence halls and by providing leadership opportunities for residence; acting as the main facility manager for residence halls by cooperating with student affairs and campus safety on policy enforcement in the residence halls remaining on-call during scheduled times, serving in an emergency responder role when necessary, reporting maintenance repairs to appropriate staff as needed and conducting regular inspection of residence halls and residence rooms for cleanliness and safety; communicating regular updates of the status of residence life to the Dean of Student Affairs; and advising residential and other students as assistance is needed by the advising staff.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
Experience: A background in residence life is preferred.
Specific Skills: Microsoft Office proficiency is required, as well as ability to utilize new technologies. Excellent oral, written, listening and presentation skills are critical. The ability to multi-task in a collaborative environment is required.
Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications : First Aid, CPR, AED Certification
Supervisory Responsibility (if applicable): Resident Assistants
Working Conditions: Normal office conditions. Evening and weekend hours expected. Subject to interruptions
