JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, provide intermediate-level support to senior computer systems administrators and management. Assist in application and operating system support for Microsoft Server, Active Directory, VSphere, SQL, SharePoint, Exchange, Project, System Center Configuration Manager, RPMS/Med Series IV Management software, Cache, Oracle, Tivoli TSM, DB2/400, WebSense, Mailgate and other mission critical applications. Serves on team supporting IBM rs/6000, AS/400, NetApp, EMC, Dell Equalogic, Clustering, IBM Protect Tier and all Intel-based Servers.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Monitors network environment. Resolves configuration, connectivity, and security access problems. Monitors error messages, checks network for operating efficiency, makes corrective adjustments to data management settings, and assures system integrity. Designs, installs and configures hardware and operating system software. Installs, configures and upgrades network server software, file sharing and domain security protocols. Detects and corrects software errors.
Administers and maintains active directory domain and server based network systems. Assures system stability and maximum uptime. Analyzes problems and implements solutions according to department procedures. Performs network trouble-shooting to diagnose system problems. Analyzes network functionality; identifies, locates, resolves and repairs problems within scope of authority.
Administers IBM RS/6000 and/or AS/400 relational database and post-relational database management systems. Maintains testing and training environments on both platforms. Requires 24/7 response time in support of the campus user technology requirements.
Creates and maintains local user accounts and system access for e-mail and file shares. Maintains an accurate report of equipment and software malfunctions. Provides referral to supervisor when problems occur which are beyond the skills of the Administrator; and tracks the problem until it has been resolved.
Performs security monitoring against viruses, malware and other system vulnerabilities. Patches systems to ensure protection. Reviews logs and performs remedial steps within scope of authority. Develops, tests, documents and implements application specific security groups and classes. Cross trains other team members.
Develops, documents and maintains procedures for system utilities such as backups, restores, performance tuning, and configurations. Performs daily and quarterly backups of production systems and other backups as required. Ensures Backups are created and maintained for accuracy and recoverability. Performs periodic reviews to ensure backups are usable.
Assists Network Team in daily Windows-based server farm and SAN administration. Assist with the daily maintenance of data shares on the NetApp SAN. Assists with File Share and NTFS permission maintenance. Assists with fine tuning performance SAN issues and managing software updates.
Assists in installation, configuration and maintenance of all virtualized servers. Installs and configures hardware, and works with other departments to identify and configure network components. Assists Network Team in creation and configuration of guest operating systems. Monitors performance issues with SAN. Develops and documents baselines and trends.
Assists in installation, configuration and maintenance of IBM RS/6000 and AS/400 computer hardware, software, networked devices, PC to RS/6000 and AS/400 client-access software, journaling, and mirroring software
Assists in daily administration of IBM RS/6000 computer hardware and software; AIX, Logical Volume Manager, HACMP, and Tivoli Storage Manager.
Assists in the planning, development and integration of enterprise-wide networks, communication, and technology systems.
Assists in systems administration team and share responsibility for management of the RS/6000, AS/400 and Windows servers.
Loads and tests operating system and application software releases and fixes in both test and production environments. Loads application and software patches. Runs performance and file tuning utilities.
Defines need, weighs options, proposes solutions, and submits required change management documentation for major system changes. Outlined system changes will be made based on department procedures.
Takes lead role in responding to emergency outage conditions insuring that key stakeholders are notified and services are restored in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills

Required Experience
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
An Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory – Three (3) years of computer systems experience, including work with IBM RS/6000, AIX AS/400, OS/400 client access, Microsoft System Center, SharePoint, Project, Exchange, Dynamic CRM, VB/Perl/PowerShell Scripting and/or communications systems in a demand-based service oriented environment with relational or post-relational databases such as IBM DB2 or Oracle. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
One of the following Industry Recognized Certifications: MCITP, VCP5, NCDA, or IBM Aix7.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Managing MUMPS, RPMS, Cache’, VISTA, PIMS, SMS MS4, IBM HACMP, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager and hospital or healthcare experience is preferred.
Will be required to work outside the traditional work schedule and be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations. According to the needs of the organization, some incumbents in this job class may be required to obtain additional systems certifications.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
