Release manager organizes, directs and manager activities for building and maintaining software releases across multiple software development and deployment teams. The Release manager determines the required skill sets and organizes the resource(s) and establishes processes needed to implement the release. As a Release manager, he provides technical support to development teams, deployment teams, and other business units in building tools / packages and establishing the environments.
The Release manager is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, configuration, administration and ongoing support required to manage change in the various environments (Development, User Acceptance and Production) throughout the software development lifecycle.
Participating as an effective and competent team member in understanding the system components, architecture, integration, source code structure, version control, software build, software installation/deployment, patch releasing, bug tracking, release document review, and deployment of the Applications in a hosted environment as well client installed environment.
The Manager works with multiple application development teams, project management, Infrastructure, change management and business to ensure applications are deployed as required by project schedules resulting in stable, reliable and dependable environments.
Participate in the design and implementation of healthcare web applications.
Be part of hosted web applications development team using Microsoft .NET technologies and SQL Server.
Work with the program management team and customer(s) to drive features and specifications, architecture design, implementation, and other software development responsibilities.
Create and update technical documents.
Managerial experience leading Release management teams and working with Software Configuration management processes.
Experience working with cross-impacts of multiple departments (from business analysts, subject matter experts to application developers, Infrastructure team, Implementation team, IT architects and testers). 5+ years of professional software development experience with good knowledge of Software Development Process.
2-5 years of experience working with InstallShield MSI projects.
Substantial knowledge of MSI.
Experience in .NET web application development using C#.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused, changing environment.
Able to work independently, and be self-directed.
Experience in Health Care Industry and knowledge of HIPAA would be a plus.
Oracle experience a plus.
Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization, outside customers, consultants and vendors.
Experience working with build systems, specifically SVN and TeamCity.
Experience designing and developing automated software build systems.
Experience designing and developing post-release support tools, patches, etc.
Experience with VMWare a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred.
