The In Vivo Molecular Imaging program in the Department of Radiology at the University of Louisville (UofL) School of Medicine is seeking for a highly qualified individual to fill a faculty position at the instructor level. The successful candidate is expected to design, coordinate, and perform experiments on the Agilent 9.4T/31cm MRI system in the areas of spinal cord injury, brain development, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiac injury and repair, infectious diseases, and cancer. In addition, all research projects will explore ways to integrate MR imaging with other imaging modalities in order to understand disease mechanism and disease progression and to enhance drug discovery and development, with a strong emphasis in bi-directional translational research. Our program is also equipped with microPET, microCT, and 3 different optical imaging systems. Access to preclinical imaging inside a regional biocontainment laboratory (biosafety level 3) and a research dedicated 3T Siemens Skyra human MRI scanner are readily available. Our program is constantly expanding in multiple directions, so the successful candidate will have ample opportunities to work with numerous world-class interdisciplinary teams as well as developing a good career path at UofL.
Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, medical physics, or a related field. Prior experience in MR/MRS imaging with small animals is a must, preferably on an Agilent system. Strong analytical, quantitative, programming (especially Linux), and communication skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously are highly desirable.
