Driver/Environmental Laborer

Class B Driver/Labor



Full Time

$18.00 - $23.00 per hour, DOE

SUMMARY: This is not a straight driving position 75% of our work is in relation to crew support and can be very labor intensive involving such tasks as dragging, connecting, disconnecting, draining hoses, shoveling, loading and unloading trailers. Class B vehicles such as, Vacuum, Guzzler and Vactor Trucks, Oil Trucks, Box Vans, 2 ton flatbeds and other equipment are used. Schedules can vary. Travel may be required to remote locations throughout Alaska.

  • Dispatcher for daily job assignments
  • Interface with managers, supervisors, warehouse and customer service staff in preparing and performing assigned tasks
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES: Duties and responsibilities are not limited to, but include the following:
  • Follow policies and procedures - in a safe manner at all times
  • Strict adherence to CFR49 and EPA guidelines are mandatory
  • Assist with environmental sampling under the Division Manager
  • Pre and Post Trip inspections – Performed Daily - CFR 396
  • Log Books and Time Sheets - Completed Daily–CFR 395
  • Cargo Securement –CFR 393 Subpart I
  • Load drums of hazardous material/waste on trucks
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Handle varying lengths of hoses 2, 3, and 4 inch in diameter with or without product
  • Monitor, connect, disconnect, operate controls, intake and discharge valves on vacuum units
  • Maintain daily inventory of hoses, tools, fittings and hose connections on the unit
  • Maintain equipment while on job sites, such as draining and lubing, especially during winter months
  • Read, understand, correct if necessary Hazardous and Non Hazardous Waste Manifest, Bill-of-Lading and other shipping papers
  • Clean truck of trash and sweep out at the end of each shift
  • Response to calls after hours, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform basic repairs and maintenance when away from company shop.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others
  • Adhere to safety practices and procedures
  • Perform basic math including; simple calculations, using fractions, and percents
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Understand and follow multi-step written or oral instruction
  • Able to read, legibly write, speak and understand the English language
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER
  • 8-hour HAZWOPER Refresher, if applicable
  • TWIC Card desirable
  • Minimum of 3 years verifiable commercial driving experience in all weather conditions
  • Hall Road experience a plus
  • Oilfield/Environmental work related experience a plus
  • Valid Alaska Class B Driver’s License with tanker and hazmat endorsement and no restrictions
  • No more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years
  • No DUI, reckless driving, speeding or felony convictions
  • No positive drug or alcohol tests
