Basin Electric’s Dry Fork Station in Gillette, WY is seeking three (4) temporary assistant engineers. These positions will assist with P&ID small bore piping documentation and relines, assist contractor field coordinators converting Emerson performance and control pages into the data historian, oversee minor projects, provide PLC documentation along with providing assistance to the Environmental and Safety Coordinators (noise survey). These positions will be responsible for several projects as required throughout DFS in addition to providing assistance to the Electrical and Performance Engineers. Additional duties lending assistance to other departments will be assigned as time permits.

These positions will commence around the April / May time frame and expire based on the individual’s need to return to college.

Required Skills This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, crawling and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds; occasional pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds, use of keyboard/computer, tools, foot controls and turning valves; good speaking, color vision and hearing; the ability to analyze reports and records, develop plan, implement recommendations, present information to others and work under stress. Must be able to analyze data/reports, conduct research, and assist in the creation, justification and implementation of recommendations. Must be able to develop plans and achieve goals and present information to others. Occasionally is exposed to dirt, fumes, chemicals, extreme temperatures, vibrations, noise and poor ventilation. This position must be respirator-qualified. May work in confined areas and heights of 300 feet to inspect equipment or be around electrical risks.

Required Experience Minimum Requirements:
  • Completion of second (sophomore) year in Mechanical, Chemical, Energy Systems, Petroleum or Electrical Engineering curriculum.
  • Must be registered for the fall 2012 semester in Mechanical / Chemical / Energy Systems / Petroleum or Electrical Engineering curriculum if senior year is not completed.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
Salary - $22.75/hour
