Summary of Position The Assistant Project Manager will support multiple projects by providing technical and financial management, staffing, organizational planning, service delivery, and overall operational management. The scope of projects typically assigned include document conversions and IT solutions delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in developing and executing comprehensive project plans to include both long and short range goals and milestones Direct technical and non-technical project teams usually within a matrix organization, monitoring and encouraging functional organizations to complete milestones within specific budgets and schedules Interface with customers as well as top management for the purpose of communicating project status throughout life cycle Track, report and communicate product / service delivery status including deliverables, budget and quality against contract requirements Interface with Development and IT staff to translate technical requirements Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change Assist in identification and capture of follow-on business associated with assigned programs and for supporting new business development by participating in proposal development
The position will have one or more direct reports.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree, business or technology preferred 2-3 years of recent project management or project coordination experience Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and MS Project Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) and/or Federal contracting Experience supervising three or more technical resources Experience managing multiple subcontractors Must be able to attain and maintain Secret clearance Knowledge in records management and electronic file processing (e.g. scanning, document conversion, indexing, etc.) is a plus Competent verbal and written skills
Additional Requirements Demonstrated ability to present complex concepts to groups of varying levels of technical and management responsibility and experience, both verbally and in writing Ability to take broad guidance and execute with minimal supervision Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Must be able to travel to client / project locations as required Inspires and mentors coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence Candidates must be able to sit, read, work on a computer for an extended period of time Occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch
