Leads and controls the operation of the store's floral department. Participates in determining quality and quantities of merchandise. Orders merchandise and supplies. Receives and displays stock.
Essential Duties Implements G.R.E.A.T. Service program to the fullest extent. Participates fully in the REWARDS and Shrink Awareness programs. Communicates and achieves compliance regarding all Company policies, programs and directives that apply to the Floral Department in the retail store. Promotes a high level of associate morale within the Floral Department, utilizing friendly but professional methods of communication. Assists in the development and growth of all Floral Department personnel by ensuring regular implementation of Company training, evaluation and counseling. Ensures that department personnel effect the highest level of customer service and cooperation that is possible at all times. Establishes and monitors associate work schedules within the department. Assists Store Director in setting quarterly and yearly department budgets. Maintains constant follow-up to assure budgeted sales, gross profit and controllable expense items within the Floral Department are achieved. Maintains product quality and cost in line with department sales and profit objectives. Maintains effective control of department labor and inventory of products and supplies, in line with established budgets and guidelines. Ensures proper merchandising of the Floral Department in compliance with Company policies and procedures in conjunction with directives of members of Region Management. This will include the proper pricing, code dating and rotation of product. Ensures that the physical condition of the department, including the selling area, back room and storage areas, comply with the maintenance and sanitation standards of the Company and governmental regulatory agencies at all times. Maintains all department equipment in good working order. Monitors and controls all department supplier service and delivery. Maintains an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing area at all times as it relates to the Floral Department. Maintains adequate and appropriate department records at all times. Monitors dress code for all department associates. Performs daily care and maintenance procedures as outlined in the Floral Operations Manual.

Physical Requirements The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential function of this job. Some requirements may be modified to accommodate individuals with disabilities: Regularly required to sit; stand; and use the hands to handle objects, tools or controls. Must frequently walk, talk or hear, and reach with the hands and arms; occasionally, the associate must crouch or kneel. Must be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items stored in elevated or overhead racks or shelves located above refrigerated boxes, in stockrooms and other storage areas. Must be able to sweep and mop floors, dust and face shelves, and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin. Must be able to stock coolers and shelves and endure working under temperature extremes in refrigerated storage areas up to 20 minutes at a time, and be able to work with house plants and flowers without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect the ability of the employee to perform the duties of the job. Must occasionally exert or lift up to 55 pounds carrying boxes, forms and other materials and frequently lift moderate amounts of weight.
