Inspects site construction and associated public improvements to ensure conformance with Fairfax County's standards and land development regulations. Serves as the Land Development Services representative on construction sites. Communicates development regulations to contractors, developers, engineers, other governmental agencies, and citizens. Issues written notices of violation of county codes that pertain to land-disturbing activities and regulations enforced by Land Development Services. Provides legal testimony in court regarding land-disturbing activities and development projects in Fairfax County. Monitors the status of the development agreements with Fairfax County and evaluates the status of bonded improvements. Perform inspection of Erosion and Sediment control in accordance with the requirements depicted on the approved plans and the Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Handbook. Performs related duties as required; duties are performed under supervision.

Minimum

Qualifications:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school; plus three years of construction experience, preferably in the inspection field.

Special

Requirements:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer. The ability to obtain certification as a Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector within two years of being appointed.

Preferred

Qualifications:
Experience and the ability to read and interpret construction plans to ensure compliance with Fairfax County Codes and regulations. Familiarity with Virginia Department of Transportation's roadway construction standards and the county's erosion and sediment control regulations. Good oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of environmental protection and conservation practices. Experience in the enforcement of Chesapeake Bay ordinances and regulations. Knowledge of court proceedings.
