The School of Recreation Studies and Exercise Science at Lake Superior State University, seeks a tenure track faculty member for the escalating Exercise Science program. The successful candidate will teach courses and labs within the Exercise Science major; assist in coordinating and delivering clinical instruction; and mentor required undergraduate research. The successful candidate will also assist with curriculum development, program assessment, student advising and student recruitment initiatives.
Supplemental opportunities exist within the new Exercise Science Physiology Lab to: foster campus, community, and regional outreach; providing majors opportunities for practical experiences; to develop revenue producing fitness activities; to plan and implement summer fitness initiatives; and to recruit paying clients for specialized lab services. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the Mission of Lake Superior State University through excellence in teaching, research, and service.
Masters degree required with ACSM or NSCA , and CPR certifications. Three years experience at the collegiate level teaching basic and advanced exercise science courses with exercise science lab clinical coordination/supervision experience and undergraduate research mentoring experience. The candidate will possess proven experience as a clinical exercise scientist which includes cardiac rehabilitation.
Same as minimum, with additional related terminal degree and with proven experience in a revenue producing exercise science clinical laboratory, the ability to develop partnerships and coordinate working professional relationships within the community, region, state, and internationally for implementing revenue producing clinical services
Able to stand for long periods of time while teaching classes. Also, able to lift 25 lbs and be able to work with standard exercise science equipment.
