The MIECHV Home-based Educator is responsible for providing HIPPY services in a home-based model, which includes a family educational program designed to assist parents in their roles as first teacher to their child. The MIECHV Home-based Educator reports to the MIECHV Regional Coordinator. This position is grant funded and contingent on funding availability.
Position Duties
1.
Recruits and enrolls families in HIPPY programs.
Identifies and recruits families most in need of f literacy services.
Works closely with schools and community agencies to identify eligible families.
Ensures family eligibility requirements are met according to individual grant funder's requirements and HIPPY rules and regulations and required documentation is maintained in child's file.
Assists in new families' screening and orientation activities.
2.
Program services.
Assists in screening and preparation of children and parents to enable families to fully participate in HIPPY program services and activities and to meet their family goals.
Administers Family MAP, ASQ, ASQ Social Emotional and other assessments required by HIPPY USA, HIPPY Arkansas and program grant funders.
Provides and monitors integrated instructional services to families as outlined in the HIPPY USA model and performance standards.
Drives to family homes and delivers home-based activities and curriculum that enhance social/emotional, physical and intellectual development while delivering parent education via 30 weekly hourly visits (30 per program year for 3-4 year olds and 15 for 5 year olds).
Assists Regional Coordinator with the parent/teacher conferences twice a year reviewing performance and setting goals for children and parents.
Assists Regional Coordinator in preparation, coordination and implementation of parent group meetings (6 times a year between October - June) and participates in all regular HIPPY sponsored activities (field trips, graduation, etc.).
In compliance with ACH's Fleet Management Policy, drives ACH owned, leased or personal vehicles frequently in the performance of essential job duties.
Performs other duties as assigned by MIECHV Regional Coordinator.
3.
Planning, preparation and documentation
Maintains accurate written and electronic records including: materials inventory, health information, screening instruments, assessments, adult role observations, work sampling and other required HIPPY USA, HIPPY Arkansas and grant funder and government documentation. Inputs data in Family MAP, ETO and other required databases.
Maintains confidentiality on all child and parent information.
Collects weekly pull pages as examples of children's work to monitor family progress and make agreed upon adjustments as necessary.
Submits all daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly required HIPPY USA, HIPPY Arkansas and individual grant funder reports in timely manner as requested.
Position Qualifications
Education Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Note: Participates actively in all training programs verifying to supervisor at least 30 hours of professional development in early childhood education, early literacy learning, social emotional learning, Family MAP, ASQ, ETO and HIPPY specific conferences and training. Attends additional training as requested by Regional Coordinator.
