Seeking qualified candidates for the position of Anesthesia Technician to function as a working supervisor for the anesthesia service while providing the Equine Medical Center with anesthesia services in both elective, research/teaching, and emergency situations. Assume responsibility for up to one third of the emergency calls for anesthesia. Assist with teaching of technical skills in anesthesia and critical care. Assist with critical care services when requested, in particular when skills as an anesthetist will contribute to improved care of the patient.
Required Qualifications:
To be considered, must have knowledge of equine anesthetic procedures, methods of assessment of physical status, induction, maintenance, monitoring, and recovering horses from general anesthesia. Knowledge of medical technology, medications, and equipment used in equine anesthesia and critical care. Previous experience handling horses, and skill in treating and caring for horses is necessary. Ability to set standards, monitor performance and maintain complete and accurate written records. Ability to issue and follow directions. Previous experience supervising and directing the work of others and addressing concerns of/or regarding them while being a contributing member of the team. Excellent communication skills. Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50lbs.
