As a SAS Platform Administrator for SAS Solutions OnDemand (SSO), you will be responsible for all aspects of our hosted application environment. You will work collaboratively with customers, analysts, developers and other implementation team members to engineer enterprise software installations and to manage, diagnose, debug, design, and prototype SAS and third-party enterprise class software systems. You will support the SSO team with training, expertise, mentoring and best practices with respect to application technology and architecture, work with the IT division to ensure that hardware choices are appropriate for the solution; write design documents with supporting justification for architectural choices; and arbitrating and enforcing design decisions that have a broad impact. You will work with sales regarding the pre-sales software deployments, upgrades, capacity planning, backup strategies, as well as software/hardware integration planning. You will be responsible for the systems design, implementation, and maintenance of SAS software and SAS servers across an enterprise-wide infrastructure that is consistent with our business objectives and customer requirements.
Additional duties may include:
Installation, administration and maintenance of SAS Enterprise software and solutions
Providing pre- and post-implementation documentation
Engineering solutions to ensure scalability and reliability
Integration of SAS software with systems and other third-party software
Engineering application implementations based on requirements and sizing assessments
Developing tools and software to manage SAS and third-party software
Diagnosing software problems and engineering work-arounds
Documenting, reporting, tracking and implementing fixes for software problems with appropriate vendor
Automating support and maintenance tasks
Performing other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, preferably Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
5 years of experience in systems support, user support, customer support or training of enterprise class software and/or hardware
5 years of experience managing Microsoft servers and technologies as related to a hosted environment. Note: This is not an IT Infrastructure position so experience should be concentrated around using Microsoft server technologies for enterprise hosting.
Ability to travel 10% of the time - some international travel may be required
Associate's degree in the same fields plus an additional 2 years of the stated essential requirements ~OR~
High School Diploma (GED) plus an additional 4 years of the stated essential requirements
Understanding of security, performance, server design, Microsoft Windows integration, and storage
Strong systems administration skills
Understanding of enterprise application security
Understanding of enterprise application performance and tuning
Understanding of memory allocation and management
Knowledge of change management procedures and version control
Ability to comprehend the details of complex, multi-tier, system and application software
Ability to effectively communicate designs and decisions to peers, customers and management
Experience implementing and managing Microsoft IIS services
Experience implementing and managing Microsoft SQL services
Experience programming in Microsoft ASP.NET
Expertise in deploying and managing ASP applications
Experience in computer capacity planning and performance analysis
Strong analytic, inductive, and deductive reasoning skills
Ability to comprehend the details of complex system software
Willing to relocate or currently located in the Cary, NC area
